KY (chains)

KY-Preview

KY type strain gauge chains are mainly used for strain gradient measurements.

Tensometer chains of types KY1, KY2, KY3, KY4, KY5, KY6, KY7, KY8 and KY9 consist of 10 or 15 very small measuring grids, which are placed on a common carrier at constant spacing (equidistant from each other) plus one compensating grid. Strain gauge grids are particularly suitable for the determination of strain gradients.

The HBM also provides chains with rosettes or alternating directions of measuring grids, thus allowing the gradient of biaxial strain to be determined.

Chains are available with nominal (rated) resistance of 120 ohms, with temperature self-compensation according to customer requirements (7 options for different materials - see datasheet below).

The measuring grid is made of constantan. The material of the measuring grid carrier is polyimide.
