Extension and strain gauges (extensometers)
Elongation sensors measure deformations in the order of units to tens of um/m and are used, for example, to detect the tensile force in a press arm or to monitor the stresses in truss structures.
For your measurements, you have the choice between a passive design with a strain gauge full bridge output that also allows parallel shifting, i.e. e.g. 4 sensors sense the strain of 4 press arms and the amplifier shows you the total force of all 4 arms. Alternatively, each signal can be evaluated separately and the distribution of the individual forces can be viewed.
Another alternative is to use the active design, which has a voltage (0...10V) or current (4...20mA) output.
